Intermezzo is the place to go in West Philly for a warm, smoky, dim-lit, coffee shop that also has a full bar and serves food. Come for the cozy atmosphere, free WiFi, great coffee, and beer (only a couple options on tap but a nice selection of bottles), but go next door for the food. You’ll find this place packed most of the day with Penn and Drexel students, most of which will be on a laptop, table strewn with books, feverishly studying with a coffee and/or libation. Intermezzo is a smoker’s haven; if you’re not a smoker going in, be prepared to become one upon exit. This is the best place in West Philly to grab a morning coffee or happy-hour beer.
